Youth Partial Hospitalization
Program
Goals:
The Youth Partial Hospitalization program provides an
intensive, active treatment program to children ages 8 to
16 who have adequate supports in their home and community
to return home each evening.
An alternative to
inpatient or residential treatment, this program provides
services to children experiencing severe psychiatric
symptoms, disturbances of conduct, and decompensating
conditions that seriously compromise or impair their
ability to function on a day to day basis.
The program is bases on
a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model which emphasizes
symptom stabilization, skill building, and linkages to
community resources.
The goal is to resolve
or stabilize an acute episode of mental illness and
prepare each child to transition back into the daily
routine of home, school, and community better equipped to
manage their emotions and behaviors in an appropriate
manner.
Eligibility
requirements:
Partial Hospitalization is a medical service, therefore,
admission and services must be prescribed by a physician.
Admission
criteria include;
- Mental health or
behavioral problems so severe to cause significant
impairments in multiple areas.
- Failure to make sufficient gains within an outpatient or
day treatment setting.
- Recent discharge from inpatient but needing ongoing
daily intensive services to successfully transition into
the community.
