The state’s uninsured rate rose from 3.8% in 2023 to 5.8% in 2025, representing approximately 116,000 additional people without health insurance — the highest rate since 2017.

The survey also found increases in uninsured rates among children, rising from 2.7% to 4.6% during this time.

The increase appears to be driven by declining public coverage and growing affordability concerns. Rates rose in both rural and metropolitan areas, with continued disparities across income levels and racial and ethnic groups.
